The UK Government has confirmed that applications for the second extension under the Ukraine Permission Extension Scheme (UPE-2) have been open since 8 April 2026.
This allows eligible applicants to extend their stay in the UK for a further 24 months.
Key Changes
24-Month Extension
UPE-2 grants an additional 2 years of permission to stay in the UK.
90-Day Application Window
You can now apply up to 90 days before your visa expires (previously 28 days).
No Loss of Time
Any remaining time on your current visa will be added to your new visa.
UPE-2 provides continued permission to live, work, and study in the UK, but it remains a temporary route and does not lead to settlement.
What Should You Do?
Check your visa expiry date in your UKVI account (eVisa)
Apply within your 90-day window only
Avoid applying too early, as this may cause delays or refusal
